How to prepare for your visit
To adequately prepare for your visit, please have your horse(s) separate from others, in a small yard, free of debris, ideally under some shade. Please have a halter and lead ready to go.
The vet will require a competent assistant to aid in holding the head of the sedated horse (with assistance from a stand). If you are NOT capable of assisting and cannot supply someone who can help, please let us know so that we can arrange nurse attendance to your appointment.
To perform proper oral examinations and treatments, horses need to be sedated and occasionally need pain relief, local anaesthetic and antibiotics. After the sedation, we recommend keeping your horse(s) in a small yard, out of the weather, within proximity for monitoring.
